FLIGHTLESS. i cannot believe it is 2015 and this still needs to be said : STOP TEARING COSETTE DOWN TO RAISE EPONINE ( OR ANY OTHER CHARACTER FOR THAT MATTER ) UP. stop saying cosette fauchelevent is a one dimensional character. storytime. remember when cosette was basically forced into basically slavery at no more than three years old ? how her only friend was the thenardier’s dog and that it died ? how they beat her, and abused her ? how she was forced to dress in rags and go barefoot in the WINTER ?! how hey fed her barely enough to keep a bird alive, and was expected to fulfill the workload of an adult ? how every year, papa noel had ignored her, and still, she put her little ugly shoe next to ‘ponine’s and azelma’s, how hugo mentioned that ‘ fear was spread all over her ‘ and that ‘ she was at the edge of becoming an idiot or a demon ‘  HOW THIS CHILD UNDER PROPER CARE BECAME THE SYMBOL OF LOVE, AND LIFE AND HOPE. and yes, she is passive –  she is passive because that’s who she was raised to be. she is passive with the thenardiers out of fear. yet, with valjean and marius she is passive out of love.  my rant is not over but it’s too late and i’m too mad. long story short
